Rich

Hi everyone. Just a quick update to say that we've shipped about half the pledges now. We've also had some great feedback so far - keep us up to date with your construction, painting and playing!

If you haven't received anything yet, don't worry, we'll get to you. UNLESS you haven't filled in the survey - although we have sent reminders there are still a few people who haven't. Do check!

A couple of people have been in touch to ask if they can order more bits - the answer is an emphatic yes - you can do so here https://pirates-of-the-dread-sea.backerkit.com/hosted_preorders

You can also share that link with any friends you think might like the game or miniatures - in fact may I positively encourage you to do so! If everyone reading this shares that link on social media, we'll get more sales and be able to sculpt more awesome fantasy pirates!

All pre-orders will be posted after the Kickstarter pledges have been completed.

Thanks

Some shipping beginning, cards delayed.
over 4 years ago – Tue, Apr 28, 2020 at 02:29:03 AM

 Ahoy me hearties!

The good news is that most of the tokens we were waiting on have now arrived! The bad news is that the cards have now been delayed due to coronavirus restrictions. That's the Character cards, Event cards and Legendary items cards. Of course, not all pledges included cards anyway, and we have always said that the cards would be available on line to print at home. So we're going to start shipping the pledges that didn't involve cards first. It's possible that restrictions will change and that the cards will be delivered to me before we've packed and sent everything else - though unlikely. If they're not going to be ready any time soon we will send the rest of your pledges and send the cards seperately when they're ready. In the meantime, we will get the printable versions up on our website in the most user friendly version we can manage, allowing you all to crack on with playing Pirates of the Dread Sea.

We know that you've all been waiting just as long as each other, so if your pledge included cards and you just want the rest of your pledge ASAP and are happy to wait on the cards, just let me know and I'll pack them alongside the non-card pledges. Bear in mind that I can only pack and post so many pledges a day anyway - I haven't been furloughed from my day job (nor has Mike, though he wouldn't be allowed over to help even if he had)!

If you're not receiving post at the moment and would like us to hold your pledge until later - that's fine of course, just let us know.

Also, feel free to get in touch with any queries more generally.

I know this is not an ideal situation, but I think you've all been waiting long enough for your books and miniatures now and I can't wait to hear how you get on with the game and see some painted minis!

Rulebooks have arrived!
over 4 years ago – Fri, Apr 10, 2020 at 10:28:43 PM

Good news and excellent news.
almost 5 years ago – Thu, Apr 02, 2020 at 07:35:29 PM

Ahoy, me hearties! Following the disappointment of our last update I'm pleased to be able to contact you with something more upbeat this time.

The good news is that the rulebook is scheduled for delivery next Thursday.

The excellent news is that our manufacturers have decided to work a skeleton crew whilst maintaining social distancing, so the anticipated delay to producing the tokens and coins should now be reduced from months to weeks!

We'll let you know more when we do and hope to bring you an unboxing of the rulebook next week.

I hope you're all staying well during these difficult times.

Coronavirus and manufacturing
almost 5 years ago – Thu, Mar 26, 2020 at 03:17:43 AM

Ahoy me hearties and I hope you are all as well as can be in these uncertain and trying times. I am writing this to try to update you as to how this might effect the delivery of the Kickstarter, but as you are all doubtless very aware, things are changing daily.

Production of the Book

The rulebook is now at the printers and as of around 4am this morning they were still open and planning on producing the book, delivering it to us next week.

Tokens, Chests and Wave One figures

As a lot of people have added the metal tokens, chests and wave one figure (that's the dwarves, elf and orc etc) I put in another order with the manufacturers this week, but have received an automated e-mail back informing us that they have had to close down as of yesterday. No one knows when they will be able to reopen. Obviously we respect that they are putting the health of their staff first.

Impact on overall delivery

It is, of course, entirely possible for you all to enjoy playing Pirates of the Dread Sea (with people you live with only, please) without those additional tokens and figures, and we have the Human and Undead crews ready to go. Assuming we do receive the books next week then, we shall be making a decision as to whether or not to ship the books and 2 crews, and follow with the smaller parts later, just as we have already done with the Trolls and Boats. It could be that we ask for voluntary "tips" to help cover additional postage if people think this is the approach they would like us to take PLEASE LET ME KNOW IN THE COMMENTS WHICH YOU THINK IS BEST.

Of course, all of this is somewhat dependent on one final factor:

Mail and delivery services

At the current time the Royal Mail in the UK is open and running, and we have been told we can continue to ship. Unlike other companies who may have informed you of the need to close delivery services to protect staff, all of our sorting, packing and posting is done by the members of our family who live together - me and my wife Julia - so there is no increased risk to us. However, the local Post Office have made the decision not to take any non-essential packages and have told us that they are not getting nearly as many collections as usual, so clearly the situation is in flux. Needless to say, if we are told we can't post anything, we won't.

The Next Crews

As many of you who follow us on Social Media will know, we already have the next 2 crews for PODS ready and were planning on running a new Kickstarter as soon as this one is delivered for them. Unfortunately, with the manufacturers closed, we cannot produce the master models which we would normally paint up to use as examples, and as such, as of now, this next stage is on indefinite hold.

It could be a lot worse, and is for so many. We will keep you informed and we eagerly wait your thoughts on whether to ship in stages now that circumstances are as they are.

Thanks as ever. Stay safe.
